Mother Theresa Award

Description of Mother Theresa Award
Notre Dame High School, St. Louis, MO

The Mother Theresa Award offers another way of educating for justice. Marie Michelle Emmerich, SSND, Principal of Notre Dame High School shares the description of this award. Each part of the process is given for reference. The faculty receives a description form with criteria evident in Mother Theresa’s life and named in the award. Through a process of nomination, faculty members name a senior they think should receive the award.

The nominated senior receives information that she has been nominated. She responds to the nomination by writing how she is trying to live the charism of Mother Theresa. A Faculty committee reviews the responses submitted and chooses the recipient. The award is presented at the baccalaureate for seniors and their parents.

The recipient receives a statue of a young woman teacher representing the spirit of Mother Theresa.
