Rome

The story of the School Sisters of Notre Dame would be incomplete without tracing some of the dialogue regarding the move of the central headquarters from Munich to Rome. Read through the minutes of a General Chapter meeting that helped make this a reality. The leadership of Mother Ambrosia Roecklein, Superior General from 1956-1968 is significant.

The ministry of the first SSND community in Rome included teaching English as a second language. The author had the opportunity of visiting some members of that first community in 1971. At that time one of their students was an Italian who was a professional clown. Consider the uniqueness of the first community in Rome.
